Wayne Brueggen shown here while wading East Matagorda Bay with a pearl chartreuse Corky. The Corky is really starting to pay off as most all of our shrimp have left the bays. Wayne ended his day with 10 trout, 16" - 21".

Brian Smith, James Smith and David Parkinson.....This group brought in a total of 20 trout, 15 1/2-21", and 8 reds, 22-29 1/2".

Brian and James Smith along with David Parkinson threw out 4" Chicken-on-a-Chain Bass Assassins to bring in these nice reds: 27", 29", and 29 1/2".

David Summers, Bruce Stanfill, Rene and Christian Forest, and Claude Belley drifted East Matagorda Bay to catch 16 trout and 6 reds. Wind was bad out of the west southwest. These guys threw Chicken-on-a-Chain and Hot Chicken Bass Assassins.

Croaker weighed in at 3.6 lbs and was 19 3/4"

Bill Ferro and Craig Hardin drifted East Matagorda Bay throwing Hot Chicken Bass Assassins to catch 9 trout and 6 reds. The highlight of the day was Bill Ferro's croaker catch, a new East Matagorda Bay record. This croaker weighed in at 3.6 lbs and was 19 3/4". The fish was weighed in at Russell's Bait & Tackle on a certified scale along with 4 witnesses. Capt. Bill attests that he personally has never seen a croaker that big caught on a Hot Chicken Bass Assassin.

Floyd Powell of Alvin, Texas along with Jason Powell and Billy Engleke drifted East Matagorda Bay to catch these 20 trout, 16-22", and 9 reds, 21-25". Baits, of course, Hot Chicken and Chicken-on-a-Chain Bass Assassins.

Bobby Tackaberry, Rocky Hudson, and Leon Falcone drifted East Matagorda Bay while chunking Chicken-on-a-Chain Bass Assassins to bring in these 22 trout, 16-21", and 6 reds, 21-24".

Wayne Brueggen along with Brian and Kevin Cunningham drifted shell and worked the birds in East Matagorda today while throwing, you guessed it, Hot Chicken Bass Assassins. Total catch for this trio was 30 trout, 16-21", and 6 reds, 21-24".

Mike Grigar, Ben Christen, and Jim Daniel did a little East Matagorda Bay drifting today. Results of this trip were 28 trout, 16-21", and 9 reds, 21-26", all brought in on the infamous Bass Assassin "Hot Chicken."

Mike and Dave Watts, along with Eric Gunderson, drifted East Matagorda Bay with Hot Chicken Bass Assassins tied on to bring in these 30 trout, 16-25", and 9 reds, 22-26". These guys had a banner day.

Bay City CCA banquet trip winner, Robert Wall, along with buddies Bill Drushel and John Schwarz, drifted East Matagorda Bay today. Weather conditions were on the up and up to help this trio bring in these 30 trout, 16-21", and 7 reds, 21-26". The chicks were at it again, Hot Chicken and Chicken-on-a-Chain Bass Assassins.

Skip, Suzette, Sarah, and Trey Heath drifted East Matagorda Bay over scattered shell and worked the birds. Twin chicks today, Bass Assassin's Hot Chicken and Chicken-on-a-Chain bought the tickets for these 40 trout, 16-25", and 6 reds, 22-27". We made it back to the dock by 10:00 AM.

Boy that chicken is cooking again. Heath Duncan and Jimmy Reynolds caught these 17 trout, 16-21", and 2 - 24" reds on Bass Assassin's Chicken-on-a-Chain amidst 20-25 mph winds. We drifted East Matagorda Bay over scattered shell.

Talk of the town is chicken again. Here, Lowell Everitt shows off his 10 trout, 2-4 lbs, caught while drifting over scattered shell. Specifically, it was one of my favorites, Chicken-on-a-Chain from Bass Assassins, that stole the show.

The same guys fished with me again today. They threw the same bait, Bass Assassin's Chicken-on-a-Chain, to catch these 30 trout, 16-24", and 7 reds, 22-26". Conditions were favorable.

Mike, David, and James Powell along with Robert Robbins chunked Chicken-on-a-Chain Bass Assassins to bring in these 20 trout out of the Colorado River. My boat had a late start from the dock around 9:00 AM.

Clarence Kamba, Ken Kamba from Iowa, and Mike Collier worked the birds and drifted East Matagorda Bay today. Catch for this trio was 30 trout, 17-22", and 1 red, 23". Baits tossed today consisted of Hot Chicken Bass Assassins and Hoagie shrimptails.

Ray Rigby and Ed Chamberlain caught these 20 trout, 16-22", and 2 reds, 24", while wading and drifting East Matagorda Bay. Wind and water conditions were perfect. Jumping shrimp out in the middle of the bay were the ticket for catching today. Fished no birds.

Skip and Trey Heath along with Billy Mitchell waded East Matagorda Bay today and you can see from the fish cleaning table what happened. These 30 trout, 16-22", and 2 reds were caught on Hot Chicken Bass Assassins. Water color was excellent.

Dwain Bankston, Tony Kawczynski, and David Trevino waded East Matagorda Bay with me today along with good water conditions and light south east winds. This trio had 20 trout, 16-24", by 9:00 AM. Tony lost a monster trout. Bass Assassin's Hot Chicken was the ticket today.

Mike Powell and Diane Camden, "Caster Extraordinaire", drifted East Matagorda Bay with me today throwing live shrimp. Water was very dirty from southwest winds. This duo ended their day with 10 trout, 16-24", and 4 reds, 24-26". This was Diane's first saltwater fishing trip and I was very impressed with her abilities.

Darrel Martin, Jim Stefaniak, and Skip Heath waded East Matagorda Bay with me today. This group threw Bass Assassin's Hot Chicken and Bone She Dogs to end their day with 25 trout up to 23". Water conditions were off-colored because of southwest winds.

A friend of mine from Brenham, Texas, Brandon Marth, and I took a friendly no pay wade fishing trip to East Matagorda Bay today. We fished some reefs and threw Bass Assassin's Chicken-on-a-Chain to catch 20 trout, 17-25". Talk about being hot as Hades, well, I think I got the picture out there today.

Blake Mitchell, Fred Huff, and myself waded grassbeds in West Matagorda Bay using Chicken-on-a-Chain and Hot Chicken Bass Assassins. These two fishermen had their 20 trout, 17-23", by 7:30 AM.

Capt. Bill here with a 28" redfish weighing in at 9 lb 12 oz. This fish was caught in West Matagorda Bay on a Roach Bass Assassin.

Lupe and Shanna Gonzales along with Martin Castaneda and Kimberly Lopez drifted East Matagorda Bay tossing Chicken-on-a-Chain Bass Assassins today to catch these 17 trout, 16-25". Wind was out of the southwest and water was off-colored just fishable. The girls had a good time and it was their first fishing trip.

David Niles drifted over scattered shell in East Matagorda Bay with me today. Baits tossed were Hot Chicken and Chicken-on-a-Chain Bass Assassins. Trout 28 and 27 inches were caught and released. The big trout David is holding was released; however, a 25 incher was hooked too deep and bleeding; therefore, would not have survived so we were forced to keep her. Fish on the table were 10 trout, 18-25".

Wes Dingee along with Robert and Jeanette Mares drifted East Matagorda Bay with me today. The trio brought in these 20 trout, 16-24", using Super Spooks. This was a CCA trip won by Wes.

Brad and Chandler Livingston along with Skip and Trey Heath waded East Matagorda Bay with me today. Water and wind conditions were good. Skip ended up with a 29" trout and 28" red, a lifetime achievement, which he promptly delivered to the taxidermist. Lots of reds were caught, from 23-28", with a daily total of 10 trout and 12 reds all brought in on Bass Assassin's Roach and Hot Chicken baits.

This group had 30 trout up to 24" with winds rolling in at 20 mph out of the south. A good day with overcast skys and that's why the trout wanted a darker bait.

Craig Harden, Dan Rickett, Charles Duke, and myself waded West Matagorda Bay and ended up with 23 trout, 16-24". Winds were 20-25 mph with somewhat fishable water conditions. Bass Assassins did it again! New bait, called the "Hot Chicken", led the way. Great bait that works in any water color/condition and the fish slam it!

Jim, James "Jr.", and M. J. Powell waded East Matagorda Bay with me today. Bait choice was Roach Bass Assassins keying in on glass minnows. Total catch equaled 25 trout, 16-20", with wind out of the southwest at 20 mph.

Lowell Everitt, Charlie Paradoski, and Brian Cummings waded West Matagorda Bay throwing Roach Bass Assassins. Catch today was 30 trout, 16-20". We saw plentiful glass minnows and sharks with big teeth. Not too comforting for a "country boy".
